Iranian film about a boy named Ali who is out on an errand to shop for his ill mother and get his sister's shoes mended, Ali is devastated when he accidentally loses the shoes. Dejected, he returns home to secretly break the news to his sister Zahra. When she asks how she will be able go to school without shoes, the depth of the children's calamity becomes clear. Steeped in poverty and deeply in debt, Ali and Zahra know that their father couldn't possibly afford new shoes. Not wanting to upset their parents over the loss, the two children devise an adventurous plan to cover up the fact that the shoes are missing, at least until they can be found.
